OUR IMPACT
As a statewide advocacy organization, Health Action MA has been at the forefront of efforts to defend individual rights, preserve access to education, and support the well-being of Massachusetts families.
This overview offers a glimpse into the important work we’ve led—driven by our mission and powered by the people we serve. We are excited to invite new partners into this work as we continue to grow our reach and amplify our impact.
The following highlights reflect just a portion of our collective accomplishments:
21 BILLS/AMENDMENTS STOPPED
Since 2019 we’ve helped stop 21 bills and amendments that would have harmed families and restricted access to education for some children in Massachusetts.
POLICY IN ACTION: 14 BILLS INTRODUCED
We’ve drafted and filed 14 bills focused on preserving access to education, expanding medical exemptions, improving adverse event reporting, promoting fair educational practices, and removing harmful food dyes from school meals.
1.5M+ LEGISLATIVE COMMUNICATIONS
Facilitated over 1.5 million messages to elected officials, championing education access and fundamental rights across Massachusetts.
50,000+ ADVOCATES ENGAGED
Mobilized more than 50,000 advocates statewide — transforming grassroots energy into real legislative impact.
YOUR VOICE AT THE STATEHOUSE
Health Action MA is led by a registered Massachusetts lobbyist, ensuring families have a direct and consistent voice at the Statehouse. Our Executive Director not only monitors legislation but actively engages with lawmakers to protect, preserve, and promote policies that support educational access for all and defend the fundamental rights of families.
CHALLENGED THE SCHOOL FLU MANDATE
Successfully fought the state’s flu vaccine mandate for school attendance through a collaborative legal effort with ICAN.
EQUIPPING ADVOCATES, INFLUENCING POLICY
Since 2019, through a combination of direct lobbying by Health Action MA and our work to equip families with tools for self-advocacy, we’ve collectively reached every member of the Massachusetts House and Senate, including the Governor.
Our outreach ensures that policymakers hear directly from their constituents—and from Health Action MA as a collective voice representing thousands of families across the Commonwealth, bringing their concerns, experiences, and priorities into the policy conversation.
DEFEATED EEC RESTRICTION ON EXEMPTIONS
Blocked a proposed EEC regulation that would have allowed programs to deny access to children with religious or medical exemptions in early education and childcare settings.
NATIONALLY CONNECTED, LOCALLY FOCUSED
Health Action MA is proud to be a sister organization of Stand for Health Freedom, working alongside trusted national partners to stay informed on the latest science, legal developments, and policy trends. Our collaboration with other advocacy organizations ensures that Massachusetts families benefit from coordinated support and up-to-date information in the fight to protect medical rights and education access.
